Take a Breath
(APRIL 2022)

Performance by Laerke Lund Thestrup and Alvilda Beck Schwartz

“Take a Breath” is created by Laerke Lund Thestrup and Alvilda Beck Schwartz for Koreografikonkurrencen 2022 at Dansekapellet in Copenhagen.
"Take a Breath" is a project investigating the society problem where time has become an issue. Where the hours, minutes and seconds are too short. Where life, everyday life and routines are too pressured. And where we have created infinite amounts of goals and expectations for ourselves to fulfill. Sometimes life forces us to stop, the body shuts down. And you find yourself locked in, in a hard grip, as a cry from the body, to please learn about your own limits. If we learn from it, do we become wiser, do we understand that a life with stress only lasts until the line breaks beneath us and everyday life disappears. Do we learn that when we get a break for a short moment, that when the grip is loosened and the body has calmed down, then we must slowdown in the future to heal the line again. What happens next? Have we learned? Or we challenge the mobility of the line again, in the hope that all our goals and expectations can be achieved quickly.
