Description of the pieces in the performance
Let the games begin…
“Abstract Games” is a play with light, three abstract stories about what light does to us here in the far north in a dark time. The three acts each represent a surreal universe of light, a play about light and understanding in the midst of darkness. Each act lasts approx. 20 minutes, and the acts can be enjoyed in any order.
“Abstract Games” was created in a collaboration between the award-winning choreographer Alessandro Sousa Pereira and students at DGU, which is a 4-year basic dance education in collaboration with Odense Cathedral School. The students receive a unique dance education over 4 years, which is the only one of its kind in Denmark, and which prepares the dancers to enter the national and international dance scene.
ONE BODY
As the night darkens, it merges with trees and wind, and nature moves as one. A light stretches through the garden and is manipulated by the surroundings to finally allow itself to be swallowed up by the darkness.
THE FINDING
In the darkness of the world and among each other, we all search for the light of love and hope that it will lead us to a friend, and if the light disappears, then we have to start over in the dark.
FIVE CARDS
The witches of the night play a game of light, and they follow a pattern that will guide them into a world of forbidden temptation. But the light can also lead them astray, where witchcraft and dark forces threaten to engulf them.
